WHEN in hungry pursuit of a takeaway, convenience can be almost as important as the food.
The Bengal Brasserie in Hither Green is just that - your local convenience takeaway, so convenient that you can literally order your meal at the click of a button.
With the internet being an essential part of our 21st century daily lives, being able to buy your dinner online should be equally essential.
Log on to bengalb.co.uk and you will find easy-to-browse menus containing a detailed and diverse lengthy list of dishes you can quickly lose yourself in.
You can then choose whether you want to pick up your order - ready in 20 minutes - or if you can't be bothered - delivery in a 3.5 mile radius within 45 minutes (minimum order £12).
But convenience is one thing, the quality of the food another.
We plumped for Bengal Bhujon (£9.95) - a feast of tandoori king prawn, sali lamb, bombay aloo, pilau rice, two chapatti and raitha.
This was accompanied by two dishes from the comprehensive vegetarian menu - Sag Dhall (spinach and lentils - £2.75) and Panner Makhani (chickpeas and home made vegetarian cheese - £2.75).
And being lentil lovers, we also went for Tarka Dhall (yes, lentils - £2.50).
We found the lamb and bombay aloo a little oily, the makhani too sweet, although the Tarka Dhall was fragrant and flavourful.
The Sag Dhall was simple yet moreish.
But at these low prices, Bengal Brasserie is the place to go for a wide selection of everything from tandoori and bhujon dishes to balti and biryani specialities.
How Bengal Brasserie rated:
FOOD *** Fantastic choice but perhaps too much sweetness and oil
SERVICE ***** Food was ready, staff showed utmost courtesy and insisted on holding the door open for me
INTERIOR/DECOR ***** Very smart and dapper - a restaurant too
