SALMON has battered cod to be named Kent’s favourite fish dish.
A national opinion poll by pub restaurant operator, Chef & Brewer, revealed more than a quarter of people surveyed in Kent eat fish more than twice a week.
Cod has been part of Britain’s heritage for more than 200 years but as the public move towards healthier seafood such as Salmon and Tuna, the traditional fish has lost its hook on the people of Kent.
Chef & Brewer development chef, Kevin Steppe, said: “Cod and Chips is an iconic British meal and will always remain a firm favourite, but it’s refreshing to see that families are experimenting with different kinds of seafood.”
Salmon was Kent’s favourite dish followed by cod, tuna, haddock, prawns, mackerel, seabass, sushi, sea Crab and red snapper.
