Erith songwriter hopes Sir Cliff Richard makes his Christmas wish a reality
Wayne Jacobs from Erith has posted the superstar a CD of his touching track, A Child Born for You and Me – which people say is on a par with Silent Night – because he believes it’s perfect for the Summer Holiday singer.
And visitors will be able to hear Wayne perform the festive tune during the Christmas lights switch on festival in Northumberland Heath on Friday, December 7.
The 50-year-old told News Shopper: “It’s the most beautiful song.
“Straight after I put it out there people wanted to use it on a charity CD in America, it’s going to be played on UK Country Radio and two radio stations in the USA.
“I sent it to Cliff Richard’s PO Box address – it was just a fluke my friend had the address.
“It’s got that sort of religious feel to it that Cliff Richard would be perfect for.
“It would be my dream come true if he sang it.
“Some people are saying it’s on a par with Silent Night.”
You can catch Wayne singing his new song, along with well known hits, during the event in Mill Road between 6pm and 9pm.
As well as Wayne’s performance, Father Christmas, a gospel choir and a steel band will be entertaining families.
“This will be my third year running, so I can’t be that bad.” Wayne added.
“The festival puts you in the Christmas spirit.
“I love seeing all the children dancing when I’m singing.
“Passers-by on the street all gather around – there’s always a warm feeling.”
