Bexley Beer Festival will return in May with more than 80 varieties of beer, cider and perry on offer.

The 11th edition of the volunteer-run, Camra-backed celebration returns to Old Dartfordians Sports Club from May 5 to 7.

Last year, nearly 1,500 people attended the festival.

Among rare concoctions this year are Bumble Beer, made with local honey; Cotton Tail, which uses five types of hops; Captain Oat Mill, made using oats as well as hops and the 6.2 per cent Audit Ale.

Local brewers on show include Bexley Brewery and Swanley’s Brew Buddies.

Organiser Alan Boakes, said: “Beer has been fundamental to Brits for literally thousands of years. Not many are aware of either its heritage or that the associated traditional industries are still developing, if not thriving, today.

“It is great to be able to showcase some of what is currently available. So why not come along and try our IPAs, traditional bitters, porters, stouts and milds or even some specialist ales with fruit or spices.”
