A new festival is coming to Penge with the aim to breathe new life into the area.
The first ‘Pengeulum’ will rock up on Saturday (Oct 4) and brings a combination of music, arts, food, and football.
It has been organised by The Hub, a youth community centre based in the borough, set up in April this year, which runs weekly drop-ins, music workshops, homework clubs, and a football school.
The Hub's Aylwyn Steele, 28, a musician from Penge, wants the event to take place annually and hopes it inspires more to get involved in local activities, while celebrating talent from south-east London.
He told News Shopper: “It’s a festival designed to bring life back into the community.
“We’re excited about it – there’s lots going on.
“We’ve got music, arts, football. We want to see it happen every year.”
Pengeulum will be held at Royston Field between 12pm and 6pm and is already boasting endorsement from the likes of X Factor winner Joe McElderry and has singer Sam Sure as the headline act.
