News Shopper: IN CHARACTER: David Bowie at the premiere of Bond film Live and Let Die in London in 1973

Before it was a restaurant, Zizzi in Beckenham High Street was the Three Tuns where a young David Bowie co-founded the Beckenham Arts Lab in 1969. The Italian restaurant remembers the connection with murals and tables decorated with a Thin White Duke theme by artist Tobias Hall.

News Shopper: The Richmal Crompton, 23 Westmoreland Place, Bromley

 Author of the Just William series of books, Richmal Crompton, moved to Bromley when she was 27 and stayed in the borough until her death, aged 78, in 1969. A Wetherspoons pub in Bromley town centre was named after her.
