Reader Jennifer Stevens shares her V Festival experiences
V Festival 2008 was very inviting with acts such as Muse and Kaiser Chiefs headlining and a range of daytime music, ranging from Prodigy to Duffy. And even though the weather forecasters tried to convince us otherwise - the weather was jaw-droppingly hot. Sun at a festival? Unbelievable.
V Festival (Chelsmford) is probably the most convenient festival for anyone in Bexley (like me) to attend, you can even drive back for a quick shower and some decent food during the weekend. What else could you ask for? Gas masks for the portaloos perhaps?
All acts put on top-class performances, involving and exciting the crowds who waited patiently for them to arrive. With Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson climbing some incredibly high sound equipment to The Kooks joining forces with Ray Davies from the Kinks on stage.
Out of all the bands I saw, Scouting for Girls made a huge effort to involve the audience, with sing-along anthems, hand clapping and unforgettable crowd harmonies.
On the other hand, we had performances from Girls Aloud and Amy Winehouse, who seemed too interested in themselves to involve the fans.
Overall, a great weekend for hardcore fans and even first timers, with smaller crowds, shorter queues and slightly cleaner facilities.
