After months of rumours, Nintendo has officially unveiled their next console and introduced the world to the Wii U.
Like it's predecessor, the real innovation with the Wii U is the controller. Incoporating a 6.2 inch touch screen and the traditional buttons, the controller presents a number of opportunities to developers for future titles
Capable of 1080p HD output, the console marks Nintendo's intention to regain the confidence of the hardcore gaming market. Games confirmed for the console include Batman Arkham City, Aliens Colonial Marines, Dirt and Ghost Recon.
The console will also be backwards compatible with current Nintendo Wii games.
Other features include four USB slots, an IBM Power-based multi-core microprocessor and six-channel PCM linear audio output.
The Nintendo Wii U is set to see release next year.
