With the release of the Motion Plus still being a few months off, you may want to consider purchasing another add-on called jOG.
Developed by New Concept Gaming Ltd, jOG is basically a pedometer that you plug into your wii remotes. The main trick up it’s sleeve is that it renders your basic controls useless if you don’t physically move. Effectively, this then encourages to you jog on the spot so your character on the screen moves too.
If you’re like anything me (i.e. lazy and lacking any sense of co-ordination), you’ll find that at first it does gets a little confusing - a bit like taping your head whilst rubbing your belly.
However, after a while you do get used to it.
The add-on will work with any your existing games, but for the best results it’s recommended for use on sports, adventure, shooter and platform games.
Now in the past, I’ve gone on record disagreeing with the physical developments in modern gaming, but having tested it on Disaster: Day of Crisis, I have to say there is a certain novelty value to this product. Part of me also feels that New Concept Gaming should be commended for coming up with the idea. Granted you can do this on the running section of wii fit, but New Concept Gaming have taken this progression further - allowing you to work out with the existing library games you may already have.
With jOG you are encouraged to exercise with almost any nun chuck controlled game of your choice, be it Resident Evil 4, Bully or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Ultimately, if you are a conscious gamer who is worried about piling on the pounds, jOG might be a wise purchase.
JOG is out on 21st April 2009 and has a RRP of £24.99.
