A DJ turned spoken word artist and resident poet on Russell Brand's infamous Radio Two show - it's a wonder we've not been introduced to the mysterious Mr Gee sooner.
London-based Greg Sekweyama, 41, kicked off his career DJing in clubs across south London when a romantic raver asked Gee, as he prefers to be known, for his help in proposing to his girlfriend in 2011 - revealing his talent for poetry.
He said: "We weren't sure people would like it if we stopped the music and had a poem read out so we faked a poetry night.
"Hi was the last poem of the night and she said yes.
"People seemed to like my poetry more than my DJing."
Mr Gee
Gee bagged himself a slot presenting Radio 4's Bespoken Word and took his work on tours of prisons across the UK.
He added: "I started writing about being on the train and seeing girls I fancied but as I got more into it I started writing more profoundly about justice and equality."
Following his success on Radio 4 the artist was asked work alongside Russell Brand on his Radio 2 show and opened a show for him at the 02.
When News Shopper asked if the pair would be working together again, Gee casually quipped 'watch this space.'
He said: "We get together and we talk about it, in essence it will happen but we're not sure how or when at the moment."
Gee will perform in Deptford next week.
Chill Pill, a night created with fellow artists Raymond Antrobus, Deanna Rodger, Simon Mole and Adam Kammerling and described as 'spoken word with the professionalism of the West End Chill Pill comes to The Albany on March 19.
