GREENWICH Theatre will open their new season this week with an acerbic comedy about society's obsession with youth and beauty.
Pulling Faces, which heads to the venue in Crooms Hill on Friday, sees former Doctor Who and EastEnders star Louise Jameson play 12 characters in 60 minutes.
The play tells the story of Joanne Taylor - a former TV Diva who, on the verge of her 55th birthday finds herself seriously single, 'hot-flushing' for Britain and about to make some drastic changes in her life.
Despite being offered the chance to revive her flagging career, her arch rival – the apparently ageless Loretta Monteray - is hot on her heels, her manager is threatening to dump her if she doesn’t smarten up and, to top it all, her friends have set her up on a date with an ex-boyfriend she hasn’t seen for 25 years.
Written by Helen Godwyn and directed by Nigel Fairs, this new play promises to be as funny as it is poignant.
Pulling Faces. Greenwich Theatre, Crooms Hill, Greenwich. Friday. 7.30pm. To book, call 020 8858 7755 or visit greenwichtheatre.org.uk
