A Christmas festival is coming to Crystal Palace park.

Crystal Palace Winterfest will run from Friday, December 8, 2017, until Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

A part of the park will be turned into a Christmas themed ‘village’ with rides and food stall.

Here is a breakdown of what will be on offer at Winterfest.

Giant observation wheel:

Between December 14, 2017, and January 2, 2018 there will be a 32-meter-high observation wheel.

It will be able to take144 passengers at one time within one of 24 heated gondola capsules.

A two-cycle trip around the wheel lasts 13 minutes so riders can take in the views of Crystal Park and beyond.

Ice rink:

An ice rink will be open to the public between:

Friday 8 – Sunday 10, December 2017

Friday 14 – Sunday 17, December 2017

Friday 22 – Sunday 2, January 2018

Off-Peak Skating be available on:

Monday 11, December – Thursday 14, December 2017

Monday 18, December – Thursday 21 December 2017

Skaters will have 45 minutes on the ice. Anybody interested should book ahead on the Winterfest website.

Reverse Bungee:

Winterfest has the World’s tallest mobile Reverse Bungee.

Two riders are put into a ball which is held firmly in place by a very strong electro-magnet. Then it is launched with bungees 182 feet into the air. The ball is free spinning, so as well as experiencing acceleration of up to 4.8g, riders also turn over and over.

Santa’s Grotto:

There will be a Santa’s Grotto every day from 12pm to 6pm.

This includes a visit to Santa and a gift. Professional photographs will be available on site and can be purchased with cash at the grotto.

Christmas ‘Noel’ market:

A Christmas market will be held at Winterfest with people selling gifts and crafts.

Festive Bar:

Beer and mulled wine will be served at a Christmas themed bar. There will be live entertainment on weekends and disco, pop & festive music throughout the week.
