GET glammed up and immerse yourself in the glittering world of the iconic Baz Luhrmann film Strictly Ballroom at Rivoli Ballroom in Crofton Park this month.
For one night only, on November 28, you can live your ballroom dream thanks to the National Trust and Hacked Off films’ London Lates series.
It is a unique opportunity to waltz beneath chandeliers, Chinese lanterns and glitterballs in the plush red velvet interiors of the Rivoli, a grade II listed building recognisable in music videos from the likes of
Florence and the Machine, Rihanna, Tina Turner, Oasis and Elton John.
Soak up the atmosphere as a flamenco guitarist and dance coach get you in the mood and ‘Scott’ dances past, evoking the movie’s much-loved Paso Doble scenes.
There will even be a Lady’s Parlour backstage make-up room, the chance to learn some moves and show off your skills to a judging panel.
Some pros will show off their moves before a dance-off with a trophy for the winning couple.
The Rivoli was originally a cinema so it is fitting that Strictly Ballroom will also be screened with dancers re-enacting Scott and Fran’s final dance.
Tickets cost £26 or £20 for students. Go to nationaltrust.org.uk/London
