Greenwich Theatre has announced a family season for half term, headlined by a show written by the producers behind massive sitcom Friends.

A US version Rapunzel will get its UK premiere at the theatre on February 18 and run until February 21.

It is written by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, both executive producers on the long-running programme, with music by Michael Skloff, the man who penned the iconic I’ll Be There for You theme.

Alongside Rapunzel, Greenwich theatre has lined up The Lost Things (February 13 and 14) which takes place in a custom-built mini-dome for just 40 people at a time. It tells the story of a boy who falls and finds himself in a dark and terrifying work of lost things where nothing is quite as it seems.

The Ugly Duckling, based on a Hans Christian Andersen story, is suited for younger children and features puppets, live music and a little bit of theatre magic.

Greenwich Theatre’s artistic and executive director James Haddrell said: “From the launch of the Greenwich Children’s Theatre Festival eight years ago, to our participation in the national Family Arts Festival and our co-production of family theatre on tour around the UK, we continue to work to bring the finest theatre for children, families and young people to our historic venue in Greenwich.

“Having celebrated our biggest selling pantomime yet, we are now looking forward to a busy half-term holiday here at the theatre.”
