Making your West End debut is no doubt a nerve-wracking experience - but rather than a few hundred people watching in the theatre, what if potentially tens of thousands were watching live in the cinema too?

Cross your fingers for Bexleyheath actress Rachel Grundy, who is currently rehearsing for The Rocky Horror Show’s return to the capital at The Playhouse Theatre from tomorrow (September 11) until September 26.

The run includes a gala performance that will be streamed live to cinemas across Europe – including her hometown Cineworld in Bexleyheath – on September 17.

The show’s creator Richard O’Brien is returning for his first UK performance in the show in 20 years.

The gala performance will also feature appearances from celebrities Stephen Fry, Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc and Emma Bunton.

Rachel was picked from hundreds of hopefuls for the role of the female phantom in the show’s 40th anniversary tour in 2013 and her strong performance led to her being invited back.

The former Townley Grammar School pupil, who trained at Bird College in Sidcup and the Liz Burville Dance Centre in Bexley, performed the Time Warp on ITV’s This Morning and also played the lead role of Janet at three venues during her original run.
