A fresh new comedy play is set for its first outing in Croydon before it transfers to the West End.

The cast of Stop!..The Play have been rehearsing at Fairfield Halls, where they host previews in the studio space before debuting with its World Premiere in the West End from June 2.

Written by David Spicer, the first act is in the rehearsal room as five neurotic actors, an inexperienced director and an overworked stage manager struggle with the prospect of putting on what is surely the world’s most terrible play.

The second act is the opening night.

Stop! stars Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Adam Riches as The Leading Man, Hollyoaks’ Tosin Cole as The Hollywood Cameo, Hatty Preston (The Royals) as The Leading Lady and Hannah Stokely (Skyfall) as  The Perennial Co-Star.

Stop!..The Play previews at Fairfield’s studio from May 26 to 30. Tickets cost £17.50 or £14.50 concessions. Go to Fairfield.co.uk or call 020 8688 9291. It will be in the West End at Trafalgar Studio 2 in Whitehall from June 2 to 27. Go to atgtickets.com
