Acting talent from across News Shopper’s patch is set to appear on stage at the Olivier Awards on April 12.

Gravesend’s Gemma Arterton is up for the Best Actress in a Musical award for her role in Made in Dagenham while guest presenters on the night include Chislehurst’s Pixie Lott and Dulwich’s Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Details for this year’s awards at the Royal Opera House were announced yesterday.

Lenny Henry is set to host with voiceover by Julie Walters.

A full evening of performances will include all four nominees in the Best New Musical category as well as a Kinks medley from the cast of Sunny Afternoon and Nicole Scherzinger singing the ballad Memory from Cats.



Here Lies Love leading lady Natalie Mendoza will perform with Talking Heads’ David Byrne, who co-created the show with Fatboy Slim. The pair have been nominated for the Outstanding Achievement in Music award.

Among the nominees are Gillian Anderson, Richard Armitage, James McAvoy, Mark Strong, Tamsin Greig, Dame Angela Lansbury and Dame Kristin Scott Thomas.

Guest presenters include Dame Judi Dench, Emilia Fox, Catherine Tate and Russell Tovey and people can watch the stars arriving on the red carpet from 5pm.

Highlights will be broadcast on ITV from 10.15pm.
