Gravesend actress Gemma Arterton has been nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance in Made In Dagenham in the West End.
The former Gravesend Grammar School for Girls pupil, who was also part of Miskin Theatre, is up for best actress in a musical.
Her role as factory worker Rita O’Grady in the play about 1960s striking sewing machinists was her first onstage singing role.
Despite the nomination, the production is due to close in April.
The Olivier nominations were announced yesterday and the ceremony will be held at the Royal Opera House on April 12.
Gemma, 29, is up against Tamsin Greig (Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown), Beverley Knight (Memphis The Musical) and Katie Brayben (Beautiful – The Carole King Musical).
Other big names up for awards include Nicole Scherzinger (Cats), Angela Lansbury (Blithe Spirit), Mark Strong (A View from the Bridge), Gillian Anderson (A Streetcar Named Desire) and Kristin Scott Thomas (Electra).
