A Plumstead comedian has seen off competition from more than 100 other up-and-comers to book a coveted slot in the New Act of the Year Comedy Showcase.
The annual show at The Bloomsbury is organised by New Variety Lives and is hosted by south east London comedy icon Arthur Smith.
The 14 acts – whittled down from more than 140 applicants - performing at the showcase on January 25 include Plumstead’s Spencer Jones.
Jones performs as idiot cockney character The Herbert with a suitcase full of a variety of nonsense – ping pong balls, a loop pedal, a builder’s hat - which he interacts with.
A panel of comedy enthusiasts will pick the Top of the Bill act. Last year's winner Alasdair Beckett-King will headline this year's show.
The New Acts of the Year Comedy Showcase is at The Bloomsbury Theatre from 7.30pm on Sunday, January 25. Tickets cost £15. Go to Bloomsbury.com or call 020 31081000.
