Heartbeat’s Jason Durr will have a tough act to follow in Croydon when he take over from Jesus in one of literature’s most famous roles.
Durr, who played PC Mike Bradley on the retro cop soap for six years, will play Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee at the Ashcroft Theatre from June 3 to 7.
The actor - who has also appeared in hit shows such as Lewis, Midsummer Murders and Miss Marple – will tackle the role made legendary on TV by David Suchet and previously played in this production by Robert Powell, best known for playing Christ in Jesus of Nazareth.
Black Coffee is the first major revival of the only play to feature the world’s most famous detective in 40 years and features a heavyweight cast of experienced TV actors.
