STOP me if you think you have heard this story before: It’s Paris 1911 and he’s a struggling Spanish artist called Pablo Picasso...
It’s from there that this fast-moving farce takes a different turn because in The Peculiar Tale of Pablo Picasso and the Mona Lisa at Brockley Jack Studio Theatre, the artist becomes famous – or at least notorious – overnight when he is arrested on suspicion of stealing the Mona Lisa from the Louvre.
Well, he is famous for saying “good artists copy, great artists steal.”
Written by Steven Green, the show is fresh from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe and is loosely based on real events and full of characters such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Gertrude Stein and George Braques.
The Peculiar Tale of Pablo Picasso and the Mona Lisa is at the Brockley Jack Studio Theatre from February 11 to March 1. Tickets £14 or £11 concessions.
