Red is the rarest of hair colours to be naturally blessed with, but who says you can't fake it successfully? The team at Graham Webb International looks at which reds are big this season.
Rose - Perfect for those with naturally blonde or light brown hair and pale skin, rose adds a touch of warmth and is an ultra-modern take on those strawberry shades.
Spice - With highlights of tangerine and gold mixed among copper slices, spice glints in sunlight so your hair appears lit from within.
Copper - Marcia Cross carries off her red locks to perfection. Make sure your skin tone is cool and match with green eyeshadow for true red-carpet glamour.
Crimson - This is only for the very brave as an all-over colour, however a flash of crimson looks fab on darker tones and is a subtle way to work fashion's penchant for brights.
Wine - Perfect for long lengths especially as the colour is so rich, ask for a deep red, all-over block colour, but make sure you use specially formulated products to keep this colour vibrant.
Violet - This looks really funky on shorter lengths. It is a cooler version of wine so your skin tone also needs to be cool.
Your questions answered
Q. Messy curls look gorgeous in magazines, but when I try them at home I just look like I forgot to style my hair. Where am I going wrong?
A. I think you probably need to try a different type of curl. For loose waves, take large sections (about an inch and a half wide), spritz with a heat protective spray and tong. You could try only curling your mid-lengths and ends for a less contrived look, or try leaving an inch or so at the ends and finish them with a smudge of wax for a funky look.
Another option is to twist the section first before tonging for a softer, more undone effect. Good luck!
