Whacky theatre company turns allotments into stages for gardening musical
A quite literally down-to-earth theatre company is transforming an allotment into a stage for a musical celebration of vegetables and love.
Mikron Theatre – a company who pride themselves on performing in unusual venues – is putting on Losing the Plot in Chinbrook Meadow Allotments, Lewisham.
The comedy, which will run on August 11 during National Allotments Week, is a brand new show about love, life and gardening featuring original live music.
It follows gardeners of Thistledale Allotments - a rag-bag bunch of diggers and dreamers.
Strong personalities frequently clash over the best treatment for mealy bugs, and the annual Heaviest and Longest competition is always a time when old feuds and new flirtations threaten to
undermine the fragile peace.
Then Harvey from the council pays them a visit and they realise they must pull together, or forfeit their precious plot forever.
Told with a rollicking mix of old music hall tunes and brand new songs, Losing the Plot is a story of love between people and the land, between people and people, and between people and their giant
The show starts at 1pm.
People are welcome to bring a picnic and chairs.
