Greenwich children to perform Joseph for Jubilee celebrations
JUBILEE celebrations in Greenwich will kick off with a children's performance of hit musical Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Almost 200 youngsters will take part in the performance at General Gordon Square, Woolwich, at 12.30pm on Friday (June 1).
The two-hour performance, filmed by the BBC, is a one-off revival of a version of the show which was especially produced in 1977 for the Silver Jubilee.
Performers include 13 teenagers from the Negus sixth form centre in Plumstead and Woolwich Polytechnic School, who have been coached by top tenor Sean Ruane.
Mr Ruane said: "It’s been a great privilege to work with such talented and enthusiastic young performers.
"The teachers from the schools involved have been tremendous with their enthusiastic support. I am sure it’s going to be a great show – and a perfect way to kick off the Jubilee celebrations."
