The Rolling Stones have been looking cool in photographs for their entire career. Images of them looking fresh-faced and innocent, however, aren’t so easy to come by which is why the Castle Galleries new exhibition is so unmissable. 1st Photo Sessions, a collection of photography by acclaimed snapper Philip Townsend — Stones shots many feel have never been bettered — will be hung at the Bluewater venue from Friday. “My brief was to make them look cruel, tough and streetwise,” said Townsend. The gorgeous black and white images were taken in 1963, when the band were on the cusp of world-wide fame. Townsend went on to capture The Beatles, Jimmy Page, Twiggy and Princess Alexandra dancing with Marlon Brando.
