AS A student of classics, my visit to the Myths and Monsters exhibition at the Horniman Museum was like going on a school trip.
Cyclops, unicorns, yeti, mermaids, giant elephant birds and a chimera with the heads of a lion, goat and serpent are just a handful of the monsters on display.
The exhibition explores the origins of centuries-old myths and legends with giant models of a dragon, yeti, cyclops and an alien resembling ET.
It offers families a fantastic day out with plenty of interactive games and educational activities for the kids.
One of the weirder creatures is a green mouse, created by the injection of a jellyfish gene into an unwitting rodent.
But are these myths really true or just imagined?
Although inconclusive, the exhibition presents a variety of evidence offering explanations to their origins.
But one certainty is the tales will make the imagination of younger minds run wild.
