Visitor attractions and places to go in the local area and further afield
2:51pm Friday 12th June 2009
Inspired by the book and film The Kite Runner, Blackheath’s second annual Kite and Bike Festival will also include Indian (slightly different to Afghan) kite fighting where flyers pitch their kites against one another and use glass covered reels to chop off each other’s kite heads.
Some of the world’s most celebrated kite flyers will also be there, showing off their artistic creations with flair. Europe’s premier mountain bike stunt team, MAD, will also be demonstrating gravity-defying leaps, jumps, hops and balancing skills using only their custom-made bikes.
Get on your bike, grab a kite, grab a picnic, or just wander onto the heath and join them.
