Orpington High Street will be host to the borough’s biggest street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The free 1940s-themed party, from noon until 5pm on Sunday, June 12, will feature entertainment including a swing band, tea dance, a sing along with entertainers and a Pearly King and Queen.

Ninety helium balloons, one for each year of Her Majesty’s life, will be released.

The celebration, organised by Orpington 1st BID and Berkley Homes, will take place at the memorial end of the High Street, which will be closed to traffic for the day.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic blanket or pop-up chairs and to bring their own food, or buy it from one of the town’s restaurants.

Reserved seating at one of the tea tables costs £5 and can be requested by e-mailing party@lollipopevents.co.uk or calling 020 88575664.
