Woolwich Carnival at General Gordon Square, noon to 5pm on Saturday
Woolwich’s streets will come alive with costumes, dancing, music and community stalls in the first of what is hoped will become an annual event. A parade will travel from the Royal Arsenal at 1.30pm through Woolwich, ending at General Gordon’s Square at around 2.15pm, where the celebration continues.
Eden Park Beer and Cider Festival at Club Langley, Beckenham, from noon to 10pm until Saturday
The Campaign for Real Ale’s Bromley branch holds its second Eden Park Beer and Cider Festival, with 60 real ales as well as 15 ciders and perrys, hot and cold food and a hog roast. Entry costs £4 for CAMRA members and £5 for non-members and includes a £3 glass deposit.
The Dalai Lama at The O2, Greenwich, on Saturday

How to be a Hero at The Albany, Deptford, from until Saturday
Inspired by the phenomena of real-life vigilantes, Deptford based theatre company White Rabbit – whose work has been performed at the National Theatre and the Southbank Centre – present the world premiere of their new play. The dark comedy tells the story of a fictional costumed vigilante group featuring karaoke, pepper spray, amateur judo techniques, a fearless cockerpoo and tips on How To Spot A Villain.
