Summer holiday days out may have just gotten cheaper, with Southeastern offering discounts for tickets bought online.

The train company is giving 25 per cent off on off-peak tickets purchased on its website in an offer that runs from July 13 to August 24.

The tickets can be bought on the same day, as long as you leave two hours between buying and collecting from a station ticket machine.

The downside is that the offer is not applicable for journeys wholly within the London Zones and can’t be used with a railcard.

But, it does work with the rail company’s Kids for a Quid offer which lets up to four children travel for £1 each when an adult buys a ticket.

Southeastern’s passenger services director Barbara Thomas said: “This is a brilliant offer that opens up places in Kent, East Sussex and London to our passengers at a reduced price."

“We encourage all our passengers to take advantage of this offer during the summer months as there are some really wonderful places to visit across our network.”
