Orpington residents are gearing up for the first ever vintage Big O Festival.

Run by company Talkingbox, organiser Nick Barclay is excited over the festival’s debut this Saturday (July 4).

Taking place in Orpington’s Priory Gardens from 12-8pm, the free event will feature live bands and DJs, vintage stalls, classic cars, bikes and scooters, a mobile cinema, a tea tent and beauty vintage parlour.

Mr Barclay said: “We’re really looking forward to it, it’s celebrating suburban culture through the decades.

“We’ve got it pencilled in for the next three years, hopefully we’ll be able to do a two-day event next year, we had so much interest - we’ve got over 60 classic cars coming.“

MORE TOP STORIES With the theme covering the 1950s-80s, there will also be authentic TV and film props from those eras including a Knightrider, Dr Who and Thunderbirds replicas.

Michael Maxted, who runs the Memory Museum, has handmade the Thunderbirds exhibit and will be bringing a treasure trove of items to the festival.

Some of these include clothing and memorabilia from Hayes’ Christopher Greener, the UK’s former tallest man at 7ft 6ins, who sadly passed away in February.
