Grammy nominated reggae star Tippa Irie will lead the line-up for Lewisham’s 31st People’s Day.
The Brixton-born artist, who received a Grammy nomination for his collaboration with the Black Eyed Pea’s Hey Mama, will perform at south east London’s biggest free festival at Mountsfield Park in Catford on July 11.
Gates open at noon with the entertainment running until 8pm, including lots of local talent ranging from folk, jazz, funk, reggae and classical across seven stages.
Lewisham garage star Oggie will perform, as will Kodar, South London Samba and Drumheads, The Divettes, Mogadiso, Felix’s Rock Choir and the Rude Vandals.
On top of the music, there will be food stalls, a craft market, a kid’s zone, community garden, funfair and a playground.
There will be breadbaking, swing dancing at a gramophone disco, racquet making and tennis, Zumba, pot planting and more.
