A Woolwich museum, which is scheduled to leave town by 2017, has been recognised as a top performer on the world’s largest travel site.

TripAdvisor has given Firepower – The Royal Artillery Museum its Certificate of Excellence award.

It is the second year running that Firepower, at the Royal Arsenal, has won the award. The prize comes amid plans to move Firepower away from Woolwich to Salisbury in Wiltshire, despite a 3,000-strong petition to get it to stay.

Now in its fifth year, the TripAdvisor award recognises the places – including accommodation, restaurants and attractions from all over the world – that consistently get great reviews.

Firepower’s general manager Michael Leydon said: “We would like to thank all the visitors who took the time to give us a review. I am very proud of the dedicated team at Firepower who always strive to achieve an excellent experience for all those who visit.”

“There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers.”
