Free films are coming to south east London with plenty of quirky events in Herne Hill, New Cross and Deptford.
Among the attractions is the chance to watch Guardians of the Galaxy on an outdoor screen powered entirely by volunteers on bikes and a screening of Saturday Night Fever followed by a 70s disco.
Free Film Festivals now organises seven festivals, run by volunteers with the aim of bringing accessible and affordable movies and events to people, especially in the face of expensive cinema ticket prices.
New Cross and Deptford Film Festival runs from April 24 to May 3 while Herne Hill Free Film Festival runs throughout May with heaps of screenings and events at each. Go to freefilmfestivals.org
Free Film Festivals Charlotte Ashworth said: “It’s not just about seeing great films in great places, it’s also about bringing communities together. We had about 3,000 come last year, hoping for even more in 2015.
“The 48 hour film challenge is always fun and some really quirky, crazy films get made - the awards night is brilliant.”
