Wave goodbye to the salesmen - a brand new way of buying a car has landed at Bluewater.

The Rockar.com-Hyundai store has opened at the Greenhithe centre and instead of tyre kicking, hard sell and negotiations, it’s more like buying an iPad from the Apple Store.

A bank of tablet computers has replaced rows of motors and banks of desks in the world’s first digital-based showroom.

It takes just five minutes to buy a car, including sorting finance and part exchange, the firm said. And instead of salesmen, there are ‘Angels’ on hand to help if you get stuck.

The stats show 93 per cent of people look online first before buying a car and these days only visit a showroom an average of 1.3 times before making a purchase, so Hyundai’s plan is to drag the system into this century.

Test drives can even be organised remotely and you can pick them up in the car park and take them off for an hour without anyone yapping in your ear about fuel consumption and sequential gears.

What do you think about the new concept – would you prefer to be able to talk to someone and negotiate or are you glad to ditch the salesmen and embrace the simplicity?
