We have a real mixture of totally different Movies appearing in your local cinemas this week.
I've picked out 3 films from today's video trailer to share with you all.

1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 3D (12A) - In cinemas from Thursday July 17.

News Shopper:

This is one film that you shouldn't miss. In my opinion this is far better than the first of the 'Performance Capture' reboot of the new Planet of the Apes franchise. That's not to say that Rise of the Planet of the Apes  wasn't amazing when it came it in 2010 and it did set the scene as to how the Apes evolved as an intelligent species in a short space of time.
If you want to read more on my thoughts on the next sequel, you can check out my review here Foker On Film review of DOTPOTA.

I have limited supplies of exclusive Dawn of the Planet of the Apes merchandise to give away in our Movie Competition this Friday. Don't miss it!

2. Pudsey The Dog: The Movie (PG) - In cinemas from Friday July 18.
No...this isn't a joke and it's not April 1st. This is actually a real life film that somebody has made with real money, starring real actors.

News Shopper:
For a start we have Jessica Hynes, Olivia Coleman, John Sessions plus an appearance by Amanda Holden and Pudsey is voiced by David Walliams. Don't get me wrong, I think Pudsey and his owner Ashleigh (yes I had to google her name) were deserving winners of the 2012 Britain's Got Talent show. It made Simon Cowell very happy and very rich. But to devote of whole movie to the talented canine is going a bit far. The movie trailer is reminiscent of one of those 1970's children's films such as Digby the Biggest Dog in the World (73).

3. Some Like it Hot (U) - In cinemas July 18.

News Shopper:

From one extreme to another. Some Like It Hot is often quoted as one of the wittiest comedy films ever made. It was originally released in glorious black and white way back in 1959. It starred the young Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon both at the height of their careers and has a fabulous screenplay by Billy Wilder.
I remember as a kid watching this film on TV, I didn't get all the jokes but it introduced me to the definitive sex bomb that was Marilyn Monroe. Little did I know that poor Marilyn had passed away some years before I saw this film. In her day Marilyn was probably the most famous actress in the world and adored by millions. Yet she was not wafer thin but extremely curvaceous and the camera loved her. There will never be another.

The film follows two down and out musicians during the roaring twenties who are making a small living by playing the bass saxophone  and double bass in speakeasies (for those that don't know, it's an illegal club selling alcohol which was banned at the time). One of the clubs is raided by the police and our two musicians Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) narrowly escape arrest and decide that it's time to leave town. Unfortunately there agent has no openings for a sax and bass player...unless of course they are women. This isn't an option as they happen to be the wrong sex. Joe and Jerry borrow a car from an ex-flame of Joe's to get them out of Chicago.

However, this all falls apart when the two of them go to collect the car from a garage and unwittingly witness the St. Valentines Massacre. Pursued by the Mob their only way out is to join the women's jazz band leaving for Florida but this means taking on the persona of two female instrumentalist Josephine and Daphne. On the train they both come across the bands ukulele player and lead singer Sugar Kane Kowalczyk (Marilyn Monroe) and they become equally infatuated with her. The downside is that she can never know that they are guys without blowing their cover.

Now this could have turned out a bit icky with our two leads camping it up in drag but this situation somehow works mostly because of the great script and direction by Billy Wilder. The film won an Oscar for best costume design and had another 10 Oscar nominations. It was said that the film was deliberately made in Black and White due to the fact that Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon look like men in drag when filmed in colour and would never pass as women. I have this on special edition DVD which comes out every Christmas and is among my kids top 10 movies. Don't take my word for it, you just try and find a bad review anywhere. I urge you to give this a chance and not to be put off by the year of release and no colour or 3D.

This new release has been digitally re-mixed for 2014.
Foker On Film 10 out of 10.
