BAND/ARTIST NAME: Nikki Felle

TYPE OF MUSIC: A fusion of Pop, Jazz & Country. Somewhere between Duffy and Norah Jones.

LINE UP: Just me. I am a solo singer-songwriter.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?: I live in Shortlands, Bromley but I am originally from Hamburg in Germany. I moved here about three years ago.

WHEN AND HOW DID YOU START: I have been singing and writing songs since I was a teenager, but for many years, music was just a hobby for me. After finishing my masters degree end of 2007, I started to use my newly gained free time to focus more on my music. I am taking it really serious now! Over the past 12 months I have professionally recorded several of my latest songs and I am now working on completing my first album.

INFLUENCES: I listen to a broad variety of musical genres - from classical music to pop, 80s rock and jazz, salsa and latin music as well. I love it all! So I guess all of these have influenced me somehow, and I often find myself using elements from different musical genres for my songs. My latest track, 'Stronger' for example, has a rather rocky beat, but it also has some latin inspired brass on the chorus.

AMBITIONS: I just love writing music! It gives me great pleasure when people genuinely enjoy listening to what I have created, when they are being reached by what I am trying to convey in my songs. When a sad song makes them emotional, or when a positive song makes them motivated. Or when they start moving their feet at a catchy beat! I would just like to carry my music out there, get more people to listen to it, and hopefully enjoy it!

GIGS: For live gigs, I am being supported by a guitarist, and sometimes a backing vocalist or other instruments. We play mainly acoustic, unplugged events. My first ever live performance in UK was in the Bromley Railway Pub during one of their open mic nights! Since then we have played many open mic nights and well-known pubs, bars and live music venues in London such as Solo-Bar, Prohibition Bar, the Old Queen's Head, Blag Club, the GoodShip and many more. We have also performed for the Starbucks Sunday chill-out event which was held a few weeks ago in the Glades Shopping Center. Most venues we play at are in London - I wish there were more places to perform locally, around Bromley.
