Welling X Factor star Charlie Jones’ boyband adventure is set to continue as Stereo Kicks made it through Michael Jackson v Queen week.
Last night’s result – which saw solo artist Paul Akister voted out after a sing off with Jay James – means that the eight piece boyband will now take one of the coveted slots on the X Factor live tour once the show is over.
It was triumph over adversity as the boys were faced, somewhat ironically, with an unplanned visitor during their performance of Jackson’s You Are Not Alone on Saturday’s show.
The stage invader emerged to be comedian Simon Brodkin, aka Lee Nelson.
After the result, 14-year-old Charlie, who goes to Wilmington Academy, tweeted:
Yes boys!!!! 😱😱😱thank you so much for all the people who voted 😘😘

Lee Nelson tweeted:
Stereo Kicks were top lads. Still think they'd be better off with 9. I'd vote for them but Cowell's got my phone pic.twitter.com/tmj4tO6XZH
