Bexley’s pop icon Boy George has got his old band back together and they’re heading out on the road for the first time in more than a decade.

The former Eltham Green School pupil has reunited with his three Culture Club bandmates to perform for the first time in more than 12 years, including a very special gig at Heaven near Charing Cross station.

In 1982, the fledgling band booked the nightclub as part of their first mini tour. Situated under the arches of the train station, it was ironic that there was a train strike on the night of the gig.

Despite those difficulties, and fears of a small crowd, the band created a huge buzz and burst onto the music scene.

Now, having sold more than 100 million singles and 50 million albums, they are set to return to Heaven on October 21 before heading off on a UK tour which lands at the O2 in Greenwich on December 9.

Culture Club was one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, with seven straight top ten hits in the UK, nine top tens in the US and number ones in more than a dozen countries.

A new album, produced by Youth (Paul McCartney, The Verve, Embrace) will be released early next year.

Registration for tickets for the Heaven show on October 21 is open now and closes at 11.59pm tonight. You must register at https://cultureclub.signmeupfor.com to be in with a chance of purchasing two tickets (£39.50 each).
