A Catford musician is set to premiere the world’s first cinematically-released album.
Jason Bavanandan’s Whiplash Dreams will get the red carpet treatment at Peckhamplex on November 26 alongside a Q&A.
The currently unsigned singer-songwriter – who previously had deals with Warner Records, EMI Publishing and Sony – narrates the film with 12 songs which each represent a month in the final year of a couple’s relationship.
Jason said: “The action of doing this - choosing to debut the music theatrically - makes it the first cinematically released album in history, and it makes the film transmedia. This creates a new precedent for how music can be delivered.”
The project has been a labour of love for Jason, who used Kick Starter crowdfunding to help bring it to reality.
He said: “It's been a long-game project which has taken the last four years to see through properly, no less because I was a complete novice who had little more than naivety to fuel me through.
“However, the experience was an education in itself. It has absolutely changed me.”
