Raving isn’t just for hard-living nightowls – families can now enjoy them thanks to an award-winning company.

Big Fish Little Fish has launched afternoon raves with top DJs that aim to be as fun for kids as they are for adults.

They will be at The Wildflower Festival in Hobbledown Farm, Epsom, on September 19 and The Amersham Arms in New Cross on September 20.

Big Fish Little Fish’s communications manager Natasha Morabito said: “BFLF is a place where adults can relax in a fun and friendly atmosphere, chat to strangers, have a beer and dance with their kids. I think it’s so popular because we put the enjoyment of every member of the family at the centre of what we do.”

The idea for the events came from BFLF founder Hannah Saunders. She wanted something she could do with her children that was similar to a summer music festival, an event that was a grown up night out, but with fun activities for children as well.

The dance floors are multisensory with swirly lights, glitter cannons, bubble machines and glow sticks. There is a special area for babies and craft and play activities are available for older children.

Ms Morabito said: “The children love dressing up and dancing (they especially seem to love drum n bass!), taking part in the crafts, playing in the tents and tunnels and of course having a cheeky cake or two from the BakerChef home-made cake stall.”

The first rave took place in Brixton in 2013 and BFLF went on to win the Best Family Event at the National Arts Council Family Arts Awards in 2014.

Each rave is unique, with different themes, DJs and quirky venues. Attendees are encouraged to come in fancy dress.

Ms Morabito said: “Although I am generally working, I’ve been along as a ‘punter’ a couple of times and had a great time. The kids adore catching the bubbles from the bubble machines, and dancing, especially if there’s a stage to dance on.”
