Welling’s Charlie Jones is going it alone after his group of X Factor finalists split.

Eight-piece band Stereo Kicks, who were put together on the series in 2014, announced this weekend that they would go their separate ways.

Their final gig will be at Thorpe Park this weekend (July 25).

Despite the lack of a record deal after the show, the boys were one of the most popular acts on the X Factor live tour and soon completed a headline tour of their own.

Their debut single, Love Me So, was released last month and reached number 12 on the midweek chart despite a lack of substantial radio support, though it dropped down to 30 by the weekend.

Bandmember and Wilmington Grammar pupil Charlie Jones released a statement on social media this weekend.

In it, he said: “We are so sad to announce the end of the road for us as a band but as a fan base you really raised the bar and we couldn’t have wished for anything more.

“Me and the boys are all great friends still and always will be, jeez Barclay is coming on holiday with me!!”

He added: “We pursued every avenue to make this work but without a label and the funding this brings unfortunately we could no longer continue.

“On a personal note I will always be involved in music and plan to start on new projects soon and hope to take you all with me.”
