Before a little known singer called Taylor Swift gets her chance tomorrow, there were some more established acts at British Summer Time in Hyde Park tonight.
Friday night belonged to Kaiser Chiefs, Paul Weller and headliners The Who. Yes, The Who.
Here’s a picture gallery taking in the rock megastars and their not inconsiderable 'support' acts.
Kaiser Chiefs
Yeah! Here’s Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs trying to stamp on the air itself!
(Ian West/PA)
And here he is trying to surf the air!
(Ian West/PA)
And jump clean over the air! (Or at least some of it…)
(Ian West/PA)
And finally – after a very energetic gig – here’s Ricky just trying to give the air a big cuddle.
(Ian West/PA)
Paul Weller
Weller I never, it’s Paul Weller!
(Ian West/PA)
Paul who? Oh, stop this! Look, he brought this massive sign along…
(Ian West/PA)
And this guy with a lovely turtle-neck sweater.
(Ian West/PA)
“Bye, Paul!” screamed the audience as he was sucked into the inter-dimensional hexagonal vortex behind him.
(Ian West/PA)
The Who
The Who! And Roger Daltrey is still capable of giving that mic so much aggro rock attitude.
(Ian West/PA)
Unfortunately, he did use part of the gig to flog giant badges for his band.
(Ian West/PA)
And then we got a reminder of what The Who used to look like. But who cares? The Who certainly don’t.
(Ian West/PA)
Because Pete Townshend can still do this with a guitar.
(Ian West/PA)
And, quite frankly, after that DREARY LOT OF ROCK GODS we just can’t wait for Tay-Tay and her shakey pop songs. Bring on the weekend!
