Greenwich’s O2 arena is celebrating after selling its 15 millionth ticket.

The landmark ticket was snapped up by an Olly Murs fan for a show in April.

Since opening as a music venue in 2007, the former Millennium Dome has been the number one venue in the world for number of tickets sold.



The biggest stars in music, such as Beyonce, The Rolling Stones and Take That have performed on the Greenwich peninsula, while the area also hosts big sports events such as NBA basketball and the finals of the ATP World Tour tennis, and big name comedians such as Monty Python and Michael McIntyre.

Since Bon Jovi officially opened the venue in June 2007, there have been 1379 individual performances.

In 2014, there were 2,068,200 tickets sold and 195 events on 164 days.

Nine million people visited over the course of the year, including a record-breaking 416,858 during the tennis.

The Premier League Darts took the crown for the event where the most beer was consumed, with nearly 15,000 pints serve.

Dolly Parton fans sank the most wine, 830 bottles.

Over the course of the year, more than 67,000 burgers we bought, 17,477 pizzas, almost 50,000 portions of chips and 13,551 burritos.
