Dartford schoolboy Charlie Jones has made it through to week four of the X Factor finals.

The 14-year-old, who attends Wilmington Grammar in Common Lane and lives in Welling, appeared on the ITV show at the weekend along with his seven band-mates.

It was predicted one of the members would leave the group, Stereo Kicks, after they were in the bottom two the week before and mentor Louis Walsh said he had never wanted a band of eight.

However the group remained intact and soloist Jake Quickendon was booted off instead.

Simon Cowell praised the boys’ performance on Saturday (October 25) and slammed Walsh for suggesting the band be broken up.

After the group performed a medley of The Beatles classics Let It Be and Hey Jude, Simon told them: "You made the best decision of your lives, not to listen to him, to listen to yourselves."

Charlie tweeted on Monday (October 27) to his 68,000 Twitter followers: "Probably had the best weekend ever! Met @edsheeran , great performance with ma boys and got through to week four, all down to you guys."
