A quarter of all live music gigs in London are rock.
Cover bands are London's second most popular genre with 12 per cent of all gigs, followed by jazz and indie music at eight per cent each.
The top place in London to see cover bands is Greenwich. The borough may have the O2, but 28 per cent of the capital's cover bands play in the area.
Camden tops the list as the most musical borough with the greatest diversity of gigs on offer.
Westminster has the second strongest music scene, with slightly more gigs overall but in fewer genres.
Islington has the capital's strongest indie music scene with 27 per cent of all gigs.
Southwark has the most number of world music gigs.
Hammersmith and Fulham leads the way for pop music with 36 per cent of all gigs.
Research suggests music fans should go west for pop, east for covers and south for world music.
