This summer the seaside is coming to the city, as a top venue is transformed into Blackheath's very own beach.
A free 120sq m sandy beach will transform the grounds of the Grade II listed Blackheath Conservatoire, along with a pop-up cafe, street food, beach huts, live music, art workshops and Punch and Judy show.
The beach coincides with the heath’s first music festival - OnBlackheath - which sees British band Massive Attack headline on September 13. The festival will also feature a Food Stage hosted by Sunday Times Cook Gizzi Erskine, on which top chefs will show off their skills.
Inspired by the Victorian age, the beach will host regular live acoustic evening sessions, along with a Friday ‘Family Food Night’ and ‘Chill Out Sunday Brunch’.
From June 20 the sandy stretch will open from 10am to 9pm every day throughout the summer, and is sponsored by OnBlackheath Festival and John Lewis.
