FOR some people, dangling above the Thames in a cable car, locked into a performance by rapper Lethal Bizzle is not a description of a fun afternoon.

But if you’re into the oeuvre of the man whose hits include Pow, Oi and Uh-Oh, then tha Bizzle’s one-off show for some competition winners on Thursday (June 27) to celebrate the first anniversary of the Emirates Airline between Greenwich and the Docklands would have been quite a treat.

Vibe hopped on the next ride with Bizzle and hoped we had enough questions to avoid awkward silences over the river.

“Being above the Thames, it was a bit scary,” he said about the performance. “It was getting a bit shaky sometimes but it was really good. I don’t think anyone’s ever done it before. It was really good to see the water and scenery and being above the O2.

“It is probably my most unusual gig, I would say. I did a sweet 16 in someone’s kitchen and that was kind of weird.”

Some of you may not have heard from Biz – that’s what his mates call him – since the peak of his mainstream success circa 2004 but he is hard at work.

He’s currently promoting his single Party Right, out in August, and gigging all over the World’s clubbing capitals as well as organising his own parties and clothing line under the Dench banner.

Dame Judi has even worn one of his Dench hats.

In the intervening years, Biz, has enjoyed crossover appeal, playing gigs with the likes of Babyshambles and The Gallows.

He said: “I have learnt so much in the rock-indie scene, especially live performance. My live performance is like rock – stage dives and mosh pits, it’s just mental.

“I like to watch a lot of that and go to gigs. I’ve been to Iron Maiden and The Killers and The Gallows. I like to be inspired by how they perform. I think rock bands do the best performances.”

Doubtless, there will be a few fans out there wanting to know if they will ever hear from the More Fire Crew again, the posse that gave the world Oi.

He said: “You know what, I think I might try and do a song or something.

“It’s something I would definitely want to look into. There might be a record in the pipeline.”
