It is often said reading can enhance creativity and imagination. With this in mind, libraries in Lewisham are celebrating National Bookstart Day (Oct 10) and Children's Book Week (until Oct 10) with a fun pirate theme.
Pirate Parties with themed songs, stories and crafts for under-fives are taking place all over the borough.
Continuing the good work beyond these events, there is also a Book Crawl to encourage very young children to repeatedly visit their library.
Oct 8 Downham Library, 10am to 10.30am. Blackheath Village and Crofton Park Library on October 9, 9.30am to 10am and 10am to 11am. Wavelengths Library, Deptford, on October 10, 2pm to 3pm.
