A Lewisham musician has scooped a top drumming accolade at a UK festival and become Surface Unsigned Drummer of the Year. Andre St Clair Dyer (known on the music scene as The Dre Zone) stepped up to the drums, for his band Short Skirtz, switching from his usual spot on keys after a fellow band member broke his arm.
Speaking from studios in Brockley - where he is currently working on new music - Andre said: "I'm overwhelmed. It's a thrill to win. I want to dedicate my win to Alan Bunclark. He's our bass player's father and was a mentor of mine."
Andre also DJs and plays with The Jivin' Instructors Professor Nohair & The Wiglifters.
